William Hill is part of a triad of online betting sites based out of the UK. There are many other sportsbooks from that region but William Hill, Bet365 and Paddy Power are the big 3. If these three EU bookmakers were people William Hill would be a distinguished older gentleman, Bet365 would be a middle aged wealthy entrepreneur and Paddy would be an eccentric billionaire. Will Hill is older than the other two combined, going back all the way to 1934. William Hill offers an extensive selection of gambling and betting services. They have a hand in every aspect of online gambling and they do very well because they know how to treat their punters and gamblers. The WillHill sportsbook caters to citizens of the United Kingdom, other Europeans and they are also popular in Asia. The company may be 79 years old but they have embraced and even pioneered some of the newer betting technologies like mobile betting. This bookmaker is one of the only ones that I know of that accepts action on TV shows. TV betting at William Hill is so unique that I will devote a whole section to it in this William Hill review. Other online bookmakers may try to mimic this feature but they are not on the same level.
William Hill was created by William Hill, obviously, back in 1934. That was a time when betting was dominated by organized crime since it was illegal. There have been a number of buyouts and mergers since then so I will skip ahead to when Will Hill launched their online sportsbook web site. The site was initially at WillHill.com and it opened in the year 2000. They eventually move to the WilliamHill.com web site and have been there ever since. William Hill has more employees than any other online gambling site that I know of. There are over 15,000 people employed by Will Hill in a whole host of countries. To put that in perspective, Bet365 has 2,000 employees and Paddy has about 1,000. Their yearly revenue exceeds £1 billion so they are much larger than their competitors in that respect too. One in four punters and gamblers in the UK place their bets at William Hill.
William Hill was the first online bookmaker as far as I know to start accepting wagers on reality TV shows. The TV show Big Brother is one of the most popular to bet on at Will Hill. You can also bet on which team will win in the X Factor TV show. The boys are currently at 13/8 and the girls are 7/4. I wish US sportsbooks offered things like this. Other shows include 50 Shades of Grey.
Other Non-Traditional Betting Options At Will Hill
I’m sure that most of you are aware of the leaker Ed Snowden. Will Hill is accepting bets on where Mr. Snowden will be on January 1st, 2014. The USA is paying 2/1, Russia is 4/1 and North Korea is 50/1. Betting options like these are what make William Hill so popular. Other options include betting on who will be FHM’s sexiest woman in 2014 and the BBC’s sports personality of the year. You can even bet on the weather at Will Hill!
