Many Americans have dreamed of the day when legal U.S. poker sites came to this country. This happened last month when Ultimate Poker opened their doors. This Ultimate Poker review 2013 is not a promotional news post. I do NOT want you to create an account at UltimatePoker.com. There will not be any affiliate links or special bonus offers for UltimatePoker. Even if you wanted to play at Ultimate Poker you could not. Less than .05% (1.6 million out of 313 million people) can legally play real money poker at Ultimate Poker in 2013. This is because only adult residents of Nevada can open real money accounts there. So this 2013 UltimatePoker.com review is going to be completely unbiased. I always tell the truth in my gambling site reviews but no one is completely unbiased when there is a chance to earn money. I have reported the truth about the Lock Poker payout scandal instead of sugarcoating the things going on there in hopes of making some easy money. This Ultimate Poker review is going to be accurate and brutal.
Nevada has always been a gambling friendly state. The casinos in Las Vegas used to oppose legal online gambling but they have since realized that Internet gambling is the future and have thus started using their influence and power to speed things along. It is no surprise that the first legal gambling site in the USA is in casino gambling capital of the world. Many U.S. states will soon have legal online poker and casino gambling, New Jersey, my home state of Illinois and many others. Nevada regulated online poker recently and Ultimate Poker is the first and only company to be licensed. They opened their doors less than a month ago.
Growing pains are common at new poker sites. Ultimate Poker’s peak real money traffic – as of May 28th, 2013 – stands around 350 players. Total peak traffic is already over 1,000 players. For a new poker site that is less than one month old that is amazing. Some of the best US poker rooms in 2013 have been online for over 5 years and only have 3-4X that many cash players.
You also have to consider that Ultimate Poker is restricted to citizens of Nevada who can legally gamble. This adds up to only 1,620,000 potential customers and a vast majority of those are not the type of people who would play poker – online or offline – legally or not. Other US poker sites can market to players from around the world.
To stay alive and compete in the online poker market Ultimate Poker will need two things: an amazing product and an amazing affiliate program. Currently they have neither. One other thing to consider is that they have the Nevada Gaming Control Board to deal with. Other US poker rooms operate under their own authority. Sure, they need to be licensed by a gambling commission like Kahnawake up in Canada or Antigua or Malta but in the end these regulators are toothless and inept. Poker sites do what they want and if they wrong their players the market takes care of itself. Lock Poker’s recent scandals cost them half of their traffic. When there was insider cheating at Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet Poker (not related to UltimatePoker) it wasn’t the various gaming commissions who caught them, poker communities did. The US poker market regulates and polices itself. Ultimate Poker on the other hand has to answer to the Nevada gaming board and I doubt that there is a more corrupt, incompetent and criminal board of any kind in the world.
Let’s review Ultimate Poker’s software. I can do this in two words. It sucks. See the image below for more details. Be sure to carefully review the flop cards. This has happened so often that the Nevada gambling board is investigating Ultimate Poker. I’m sure this kind of thing is pretty embarrassing for them.
Here are some other facts about UltimatePoker.com in 2013:
